County & City Enterprise Boards endeavour to foster an entrepreneurial environment whereby more and more people will consider self employment as a career option.

In pursuit of this objective the Boards have identified an interactive Enterprise Initiative for primary and secondary schools nationwide. This initiative gives students the opportunity to take a business from idea stage, through to generating a profit. The learning outcomes are significant in that it educates students about the realities of setting up and running a business.

Students are also given the opportunity to showcase their product/service at local Trade Fair, and participate in County Student Enterprise Awards. County winners are then invited to the National Enterprise Awards, organised annually by County & City Enterprise Boards. This programme presents all participating schools with an excellent opportunity to inculcate the spirit of enterprise in schools nationally.
